Tambiyev Defends Dynamo Moscow's KHL Start
Dynamo Moscow coach Leonid Tambiyev says he sees no negative in the team's 11 points from 11 games, though he admits scoring just 21 goals is a concern.
Leonid Tambiyev pushed back on suggestions that Dynamo Moscow's start to the KHL season has been poor. The club sit sixth in the Western Conference with 11 points from 11 matches, and lost 1-2 in overtime to Traktor on Monday.
Tambiyev has been in sole charge of Dynamo for a month. Asked whether the club is weighing up a trade involving forward Artyom Sergeyev, he declined to be drawn: "The players who play are, in my view, the ones who deserve to play. I won't comment on that for now."
The coach pointed to goalscoring as his real concern, not the overall record: 21 goals in 11 games. He also flagged two periods of poor play along the way, without naming the matches.
He set the results against a squad reshuffle under way at the club. A large group of young players has joined the roster, some with no prior experience even in the VHL, now stepping straight into the KHL. Tambiyev said the club is bringing them in gradually and described the process as part of Dynamo's future, alongside a schedule he called congested, with little time for rest and recovery between matches.
