Kucherov Not Planning to Test Free Agency, Says LeBrun
TSN's Pierre LeBrun reports Lightning star Nikita Kucherov has no intention of hitting the open market despite entering his contract's final year unextended.
Pierre LeBrun of TSN says Nikita Kuchcherov has no plans to test the open market next summer, even as the Tampa Bay forward enters the final season of his contract without an extension in place.
Kuchcherov, 33, is in the last year of an eight-year deal carrying a $9.5 million cap hit. He became eligible to sign an extension with the Lightning on 1 July.
Kuchcherov won the Hart Trophy as the NHL's most valuable player last season. Tampa Bay and his agent, Dan Milstein, have yet to land on terms for a new deal, though LeBrun reported no cause for alarm beyond the contract itself remaining unsigned.
