Lokomotiv-Sibir Match to Open With Minute's Silence
Lokomotiv's KHL game against Sibir will start with a minute's silence and skip pre-match entertainment following a fatal firework factory fire that killed 14 people.
Lokomotiv's KHL fixture against Sibir this evening will open with a minute's silence and go ahead without the usual pre-match entertainment programme.
The club's press office confirmed the decision. It follows a fire at a firework factory in Kubrinka, in the Yaroslavl region, on 28 September, in which 14 people died. The region has declared 30 September a day of mourning.
The blaze destroyed two buildings on the site. The factory's director has been detained, and a criminal case has been opened under Article 217, Part 3, of the Russian Criminal Code, covering breaches of industrial safety requirements at hazardous facilities resulting in two or more deaths through negligence.
