About the player
Afonso Peixoto came through the youth system at Académica de Coimbra before making the move abroad in 2021, when Venezia signed him for its Primavera side. He settled quickly in Italy, making 26 appearances for the club's under-19 team before two loan spells at Vis Pesaro in Serie C gave him the regular senior football he needed: across both stints he made 56 appearances, scoring three goals and setting up four more.
A left-footed defender, Peixoto has mostly played at left-back but is comfortable at centre-back as well, and was tried further forward as a midfielder and wing-back during his time in youth football. He returned to Portugal in July 2025, joining Torreense on a permanent deal after his contract at Venezia ended. The move paid off almost immediately: Torreense went on to lift the Taça de Portugal, beating Sporting CP in the final.
Peixoto has also had a taste of international football, earning two caps for Portugal's under-19 side.
