About the player
Antoin Essomba started his career at Gambinos Stars in The Gambia, where he was reportedly the most expensive player to leave the club when he moved on in 2022. That transfer took him to Slovakia's MŠK Žilina, where he split time between the first team and the reserve side, MŠK Žilina B, appearing in the Slovak 2. Liga alongside his senior football. Across three seasons at Žilina he made 35 league appearances and scored 3 goals for the main squad, adding 24 appearances and 8 goals for the reserves.
In January 2025 Essomba signed permanently for FC Inter Turku on a one-year deal with an option for a further season, later extended to the end of 2027. He made an immediate impact in Finland, scoring 7 goals in 27 league matches in his first campaign and earning the Veikkausliiga Player of the Month award for June 2025. He also played a part in European competition, setting up Clinton Jefta's goal in a 2-0 win over Istanbul Başakşehir in the UEFA Conference League.
Essomba has continued to be a regular for Inter Turku, taking his tally to 48 league appearances and 8 goals by August 2026. At club level he has won the Finnish League Cup twice with the Turku side, in 2025 and 2026. A right-footed forward who operates on the right wing, he plays for Inter Turku with the number 23 on his back.
