About the player
Doğan Erdoğan made his professional debut for Samsunspor on 23 December 2012 at the age of 16, becoming the youngest player in Turkish league history at the time. He had joined the club's youth system in 2006 and went on to make 25 league appearances before leaving in 2015.
That summer he moved to LASK in Austria, the first player to go directly from Samsunspor's academy to a foreign club. He spent four seasons there, making 64 appearances and scoring three goals, and was part of the side that won promotion to the Austrian Bundesliga in 2017. In November 2018, under coach Oliver Glasner, he was suspended for disciplinary reasons and loaned out to FC Juniors OÖ in the 2. Liga for the second half of that season. He also made his UEFA Europa League debut for LASK in August 2018, against Beşiktaş.
Erdoğan returned to Turkey in July 2019 with Trabzonspor, where he won the Turkish Cup in 2019–20, before the contract was terminated by mutual consent in September 2020. He later said a transfer to Beşiktaş had been finalised that summer before falling through at the last minute. Spells followed at Çaykur Rizespor and Gaziantep FK, then a move to the Dutch Eredivisie with Fortuna Sittard in July 2022, where he made 27 appearances without scoring. He returned to Turkey with Göztepe in September 2023, and in July 2025 signed a two-year contract with Iğdır FK.
At youth international level, Erdoğan represented Turkey from U15 through U21, earning 36 caps and captaining the U21 side.
