Déron Payne

Déron Payne came through the AZ Alkmaar academy before his path took a detour through Koninklijke HFC, before FC Volendam signed him as a free agent in May 2022, initially on a deal running to the summer of 2025 and later extended to 2028. He made his first-team debut in the Eredivisie against Feyenoord in November 2022.

The breakthrough took two years to arrive. Payne's first senior goal came in October 2024, in a 4-1 win over Eindhoven, by which point Volendam had dropped into the Eerstedivisie. He was a regular that season, playing 31 matches with a goal and three assists, and returned to first-team duty in the Eredivisie after the club won promotion back. Across his time at the club he has made 64 appearances for the first team.

His progress was interrupted in November 2023 by an injury that kept him out for 96 days. He was substituted after picking up a knock against ADO Den Haag the following season, and a spell away from training in August 2025 went unexplained.

Born in Hoofddorp, Payne qualifies for Trinidad and Tobago and made his senior international debut in October 2025 during World Cup 2026 qualifying, going on to collect six caps without scoring.
