David Bruno

Nobody expected much from David Bruno's early years at FC Porto. He came through the academy from 2009 but never made a senior competitive appearance for the first team, instead going out on loan to Trofense, Freamunde and Tondela. When his Tondela contract expired, he left Portugal altogether, joining Romanian side Astra Giurgiu on a free transfer.

Bruno built a career out of moving on at the right time. At Moreirense he was part of the squad that won the Liga Portugal 2 title, and a year later he won the same competition again with Santa Clara, though his game time there was limited to four appearances. Alverca gave him his most productive attacking season, with two goals and six assists in 21 appearances, form that took him to União Torreense on a free transfer.

It was at Torreense, in April 2026, that Bruno produced the moment he will be remembered for. In the second leg of the Taça de Portugal semi-final against Fafe, he scored the opening goal that put the club on course for the final against Sporting CP.

At youth level, Bruno was capped by Portugal across the U18, U19, U20 and U21 age groups, including four appearances for the U21 side. He never progressed to the senior national team.
