Diego Besio

Diego Besio's return to FC Gossau in 2023 was meant to be a step back into senior football. Twelve appearances there in 2023–24 were enough to bring him back into the St. Gallen fold the following year, this time with the reserve side, where two goals in seventeen games.

That conversation ended on 15 December 2025, when Besio came off the bench against FC Sion in the Swiss Super League. He needed twelve minutes to make an impact, scoring in the 91st minute to turn the match into a 3–1 win. On 21 January 2026, St. Gallen rewarded him with a professional contract running to 30 June 2030.

Besio was part of the St. Gallen squad that won the Swiss Cup in 2025–26, and he scored twice against FC Sheriff Tiraspol. At international level, he has been capped twice by Switzerland's under-20 side.

Before any of that, his path ran through Gossau's youth ranks, which he joined at the age of five, and then St. Gallen's own academy from 2016.
