About the player
Emil Hellman came through Högaborgs BK before joining the Helsingborgs IF academy at 14, working his way up until his senior debut in the Svenska Cupen in August 2019. He was permanently promoted to the first team for the 2021 season and went on to make 34 appearances for Helsingborgs IF between 2020 and 2023, with a loan spell at Ängelholms FF in the middle of that run yielding four more outings.
When his contract in Helsingborg expired at the end of 2023, Hellman moved abroad as a free agent, joining Danish club Næstved BK in February 2024. He made 14 appearances in the Danish 1st Division before the club's relegation prompted another move, and in August 2024 he signed with Varbergs BoIS, again without a transfer fee, initially on a short deal running to the end of that season. The club exercised its option to keep him, extending his contract through December 2026 in January 2025.
A left-back by trade, Hellman has settled into a regular role at Varbergs BoIS, passing 30 appearances for the club by September 2025. He also picked up an assist in a match against Sandvikens IF in June 2025.
