About the player
Emerson Deocleciano, known to teammates as "Baiano", arrived at Rīgas FS on loan from NK Lokomotiva Zagreb in the spring of 2020 and left five years later. His first season set the tone: 10 league goals in 24 appearances as RFS finished runners-up in the Virslīga, with further goals coming in Europa League qualifying. The loan was made permanent the following March, and the numbers kept climbing from there.
By the time he departed, Deocleciano had scored 53 goals in 177 appearances for RFS — a club record — and held the mark for most appearances by a foreign player in the shirt. He won the Virslīga title three times, in 2021, 2023 and 2024, added two Latvian Cups in the same span, and topped the league's scoring charts in 2022 to claim the Golden Boot. Between 2020 and 2024 alone he managed 46 league goals in 136 appearances.
His path to Latvia ran through Brazil and Croatia. Deocleciano began with Vila Nova in Goiânia, making just three appearances in the Campeonato Goiano before moving to Lokomotiva Zagreb, where he made his professional debut against Hajduk Split in August 2019.
He left RFS for V-Varen Nagasaki in Japan as a free agent in January 2025, making his debut in the J.League Cup that March. He helped the club win the J2 League title and secure promotion to J1, before a serious ACL injury interrupted his season late in the year.
