About the player
Jason McClelland is entering his seventh season at St Patrick's Athletic, having joined the club as a free transfer on 8 November 2019 in what was his first full-time professional contract. His time there brought the League of Ireland First Division title in 2018, together with the Collingwood Cup the same year.
At St Patrick's Athletic, McClelland has built a trophy collection to match his UCD years, winning the FAI Cup in 2021 and again in 2023, and adding the Leinster Senior Cup in the 2023–24 season. He was also a contender for UCD Player of the Year during his time at Belfield.
McClelland's career began in the youth ranks at Templeogue United, Peamount United and Crumlin United before Shamrock Rovers brought him into their academy, where he progressed to the Under-19 side in 2014. His only representative honours came at Under-19 level for the Republic of Ireland, with two caps in November 2015: a friendly against Latvia and a UEFA European Under-19 Championship qualifier against Scotland. He has not featured for any senior Ireland side.
