Jack Thomas Bycroft

Some goalkeepers wait a career for a moment like the one Jack Bycroft produced against Stockport County on 18 April 2026: he went forward for a set piece and scored in the 96th minute.

Bycroft came through the academy at Southampton, signing his first professional contract there in 2018, but he never made a senior appearance for the club. Instead his development happened elsewhere, through a run of loans that took him steadily down and then back up the English pyramid. Spells at Weymouth, Dorchester Town and Aldershot Town gave him minutes, but it was at Taunton Town in 2022/23 that he first established himself as a first-choice goalkeeper, playing 40 league games and earning a place in the National League South Team of the Year.

A loan move to Oxford City in November 2023 was cut short within months when Swindon Town brought him in that January. It was at Swindon that Bycroft had his breakthrough season, playing 40 matches in 2024/25 and picking up the club's Save of the Season award for a stop against Gillingham in February 2024.

He joined Exeter City in July 2025 as a free agent on a two-year contract, and has made nine appearances for the club so far. Earlier in his career, Bycroft was capped once by England at under-19 level, in a match against France in 2019.
