About the player
Jesús Angulo made his name in Culiacán, breaking through at Dorados de Sinaloa, where he scored 13 goals in 65 league appearances and won the Ascenso MX Apertura title in 2016. That run earned him a move to Club Tijuana, then to Necaxa in a deal worth around €3.5 million, where he scored four goals in 21 Apertura 2019 appearances.
His transfer to Chivas in December 2019 marked a move to one of Mexican football's biggest clubs, and he repaid the move with 12 goals in 83 appearances across two seasons.
Angulo joined Deportivo Toluca in July 2023, with 13 goals in 62 appearances by March 2025. He struck a hat-trick against Necaxa on 27 October 2024, in a 3–1 win.
Internationally, Angulo scored on his senior debut for Mexico, netting in a 2–0 friendly win over Trinidad and Tobago on 2 October 2019. As part of the Mexico under-23 squad, he had already tasted major success, winning the Olympic bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Games and the CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying Championship. He was named in Mexico's squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup and returned to the national team for friendlies in January 2025.
