About the player
Villiger came through FC Luzern's own academy, arriving via FC Sins, Zug 94 and SC Kriens before joining the club's youth setup. Two seasons with the U21 side in the Promotion League brought 48 appearances and 15 goals, and on 2 April 2023 he signed his first professional contract with the first team. He made his Super League debut that same day, coming off the bench against FC Sion in a 1–2 defeat.
His first senior goal followed weeks later, in a 1–1 draw with FC St. Gallen. The 2023–24 season established him at senior level: 34 league appearances and six goals, plus a further goal in three Swiss Cup matches.
Villiger has also featured for Switzerland at U21 level, collecting ten caps and two goals. As a player who progressed entirely through Luzern's own ranks rather than arriving by transfer, no fee has ever been attached to his career moves.
