About the player
Leon Schaffran moved from BW Beelitz and RSV Eintracht 1949 into Hertha BSC's youth ranks in 2013, where he worked through the U17 and U19 sides before breaking into senior football with Hertha's reserve team. That path also brought him into the German youth setup, with a single U18 appearance against Turkey in November 2015 and one more cap at U19 level in 2017.
His move to SpVgg Greuther Fürth in the summer of 2018 lasted six years, split between the first team and the club's reserve side. When that spell ended in 2024, he signed for FC Vaduz on a free transfer, joining on a one-year deal that summer.
It is at Vaduz that Schaffran has found his best form. He was part of the side that won the Swiss Challenge League title in the 2025–26 season, securing promotion to the Swiss Super League, and he has lifted the Liechtenstein Cup twice with the club, in 2024–25 and again in 2025–26, though no individual goalkeeping honours have followed so far.
