Martin Tsankov

Martin Tsankov made his move to Jong FC Utrecht on a free transfer at the end of August 2025, signing a contract until June 2027 with an option for a further season. It capped a formative spell at Vitesse, where he had joined the youth academy in July 2022 and signed his first professional contract the following year. Before that, his path ran through the amateur ranks at SV Houten, VIOD and VV Hoograven.

The high point of his time at Vitesse came with the club's U16 side in the 2022/2023 season, when the team won the KNVB Beker at youth level and swept both the autumn and overall Dutch youth championships. Tsankov has since been capped by the Netherlands at U17, U18 and U19 level. Born in Karlovo, Bulgaria, he also holds Bulgarian citizenship and turned out once for Bulgaria's U17 side in a friendly in 2023, leaving him with underage recognition from both countries but no senior call-up yet from either.

Since arriving at Jong Utrecht, Tsankov has yet to make a competitive first-team appearance, and has been named among the substitutes without being called upon in recent matches. His development so far has largely played out at U21 level rather than in senior competition.
