About the player

Mateusz Skoczylas returned to Poland this month, joining Cracovia Kraków on a free transfer after two years at AC Milan. The move ended a spell in Italy that began in August 2023, when Zagłębie Lubin sold him for a reported fee of around €1 million. At Milan he worked his way through the Primavera side before being promoted to Milan Futuro, the club's reserve team, in July 2025.

Skoczylas is a product of Rzeszów football, having come through Grunwald Budziwój Rzeszów and Stal Rzeszów before Zagłębie Lubin signed him as a teenager. His only senior appearance in Poland so far came for Zagłębie Lubin II in 2023, shortly before his transfer to Italy.

His clearest impact has come with Poland's youth sides. Skoczylas has represented the country from U14 level upwards, but it was with the U17s that he made his mark: 19 caps and three goals, including appearances at the 2023 UEFA European Under-17 Championship, where Poland reached the semi-finals, and the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup. He has not yet been called up to the senior national team.

At club level, he was part of the Milan Primavera squad that won the Italian Youth Championship and the Coppa Italia Primavera during his time there. He now begins a new chapter at Cracovia, on a three-year contract with the option of a further season, as he looks to establish himself in senior football back home.
