Mats Hammerich

Mats Hammerich came through FC Aarau's academy, joining in July 2012 after starting out at FC Baden, where he had begun playing at the age of six. He worked his way through the club's U16 and U18 sides before making his senior debut in the 2016/2017 season, a campaign that also included a loan spell at SC Cham in the Promotion League. He went on to establish himself as a regular in Aarau's midfield in the Swiss Challenge League, featuring briefly in the Swiss Super League during the 2018/19 season.

A defensive midfielder by trade, Hammerich has drawn comparisons to Toni Kroos for his tactical intelligence and composure. In July 2021, he left Aarau as a free agent to join Neuchâtel Xamax FCS, where he made more than 80 appearances across three seasons.

Hammerich moved to FC Vaduz on a free transfer in July 2024, initially signing until December of that year before the contract was extended to June 2026. At youth international level, he represented Switzerland, collecting caps for both the U19 and U20 sides.

His time at Vaduz has already brought silverware: Hammerich has won the Liechtenstein Cup twice, in the 2023/24 and 2024/25 seasons, and has also claimed the Swiss Challenge League title with the club. He continues to appear for Vaduz in both the Challenge League and European competition.
