About the player
Nick Verschuren spent his youth years in Ajax's academy after joining from ASV Fortius, and made his way through the Amsterdam club's system to captain Jong Ajax during the 2024/25 season. He racked up 49 appearances for the reserve side in the Eerste Divisie before earning a place in the first-team squad for 2025/26. He did not feature for the senior Ajax side that season, though.
Instead, Verschuren was sent out on loan to FC Volendam in August 2025, and made an immediate impact, making his Eredivisie debut against AZ. He went on to become a regular at Volendam, appearing in 31 league matches and four KNVB Cup ties across the campaign — a total of 35 games.
In June 2026, Ajax sold him permanently to Sparta Rotterdam, in a deal worth around €800,000 with the potential to rise to €1 million plus a resale percentage retained by the Amsterdam club. Verschuren signed a four-year contract in Rotterdam, keeping him there until 2030.
On the international front, Verschuren was named in a preliminary 33-man squad for the Netherlands under-19 side ahead of European Championship qualifying in March 2024.
