About the player
Niklas Schulz holds dual Finnish and German citizenship, and his path to AC Oulu has run almost entirely through Finnish youth football. He started out at Käpylän Pallo, spent several seasons in the HJK Helsinki academy, then returned to KäPa before a further move to PK Keski-Uusimaa. His senior career began in 2023 with JäPS in the Ykkönen, where he made a single appearance, before he took the less common step of moving abroad to Italy, joining FBC Gravina in Serie D for the 2023–2024 season. There he made 15 league appearances.
Schulz returned to Finland in November 2024, signing a one-year contract with AC Oulu, with an option for a second year, on a free transfer from Gravina. During the 2025 season he featured for Oulu in the Veikkausliiga while also going out on loan to Oulun Luistinseura in the Ykkönen, where he added further appearances to his tally.
At international level, Schulz has represented Finland rather than Germany, earning a cap for the Finland under-18 side in 2023. He came home to continue his development at Oulu.
