Óscar Melendo Jiménez

Óscar Melendo spent nineteen years at RCD Espanyol before leaving as a free agent, having joined the club's academy at the age of six. He worked his way through the ranks, breaking into Espanyol B in June 2016 and making his professional debut that year, before earning a promotion to the first team and his La Liga debut in November 2016. His time at the club culminated in the Segunda División title in the 2020–21 season.

Melendo moved on in the summer of 2022, signing for Granada CF as a free agent. He was a regular part of the side that won promotion from Segunda División in his first season there, making 35 appearances and scoring once, then featured in 26 La Liga matches the following campaign as Granada competed back in the top division. He made 61 appearances in total for the club.

In August 2024 he joined Cádiz CF on a three-year contract, for a fee reported at around €1 million. His only season there brought 22 appearances and two goals across the league and Copa del Rey before he left as a free agent. He signed for Shanghai Port on a free transfer on 8 July 2025, wearing the number 21 shirt, and won the Chinese Super League title with the club that year.

Melendo has represented Catalonia at international level, starting in a 2–1 friendly win over Venezuela in March 2019, though he has not been capped by Spain's senior side.
