Takashi Sawada

Takashi Sawada has become one of V-Varen Nagasaki's longest-serving players. He joined the club on a free transfer in January 2017 and has stayed ever since, passing 290 league appearances for Nagasaki along the way.

Sawada started his professional career at Roasso Kumamoto in 2014 before moving to Shimizu S-Pulse for the 2015 and 2016 seasons. The switch to Nagasaki turned out to be the one that stuck, and the midfielder has been a fixture in the side through its various campaigns in J1 and J2 since.

In 2018 he received the J.League Individual Fair Play Award while at Nagasaki. His output has generally been modest but steady: 23 appearances with a goal and two assists in the 2024 J2 League season, followed by 25 appearances, two goals and an assist in 2025. He has continued into the 2026 J1 League campaign, featuring twice so far as Nagasaki competes in the top flight.

Sawada plays right-footed and has spent his career as a squad player rather than a headline name. He has not been capped by the Japan senior national team.
