Aktobe compete in the Pro Hokei Ligasy, Kazakhstan's second tier, where a fifth-place regular season finish and a run to the semi-finals in 2023/24 mark the club's high point to date. The Kazakhstan Cup remains the target: the club reached the final in 2021, only to lose out to Sarıarka Karaganda, and neither that trophy nor the national championship has yet gone to Aktobe.

The regional akimat and the Kazakhstan Ice Hockey Federation set the club up together, registering the legal entity in September 2018 before the senior side took the ice in the summer of 2019. What that paperwork actually restored was a gap of 28 years — professional hockey had left Aktobe when the previous local teams folded in the late 1990s, and this was the city getting a team back.

Local media call the side Qyzyl-aktylar, the Red-Whites, and the red-and-white colours carry through the branding alongside a touch of blue. Games against Beybaris of Atyrau are billed as the Western Derby, the fixture that draws the sharpest attention on the calendar. Alexey Korshkov, who played for Sibir Novosibirsk, CSKA Moscow and Lokomotiv Yaroslavl before coming to coach in Aktobe, and captain Sergey Egorov are the names most tied to the club's short history so far.

What Aktobe has produced so far is regional talent for the domestic league rather than a breakout name for the national team — fitting for a club still closer to its founding than to any anniversary, still built around the return it was created to make in 2019.
