Al Jahra

Before it settled on the name it now carries, the club representing Kuwait's Al Jahra governorate went by three others — Al-Qasr Al-Ahmar, the Red Palace, then Qurrat Al-Jahra, then Al-Shahada, the Martyrs, the root of the nickname still used today: Sons of the Martyrs. It formed on 4 December 1966 and took its current name, Al-Jahra SC, in 1979. The club remains the only one representing its governorate.

The one league title came in 1989/90, in Kuwait's Premier League. Getting back to that level has proved harder than winning it in the first place. Al Jahra has topped the second division five times since — 1987/88, 2002/03, 2019/20, 2021/22 and 2024/25 — a record that speaks more to a club shuttling between tiers than to one settled at the top.

Home games are played at Mubarak Al-Aiar Stadium, generally listed at 17,000 seats, though some counts put the ground closer to 14,000. The team plays in white and blue.

Three times Al Jahra reached the final of the Emir Cup — 1996, 2002 and 2013 — and three times came away without it. Kuwait's biggest cup has never gone to Al Jahra.
