Arsenal Tivat

Ivica Kralj kept goal for Yugoslavia, then for Montenegro, and passed through Partizan, Porto and PSV along the way. He started at Arsenal, in Tivat, and he is not the only international the club has sent out. Branislav Janković went the same way.

The name came from work, not from London. A naval repair yard sat next to the pitch, known locally as the Arsenal, and when the club merged with a neighbouring side in 1930 it took the yard's nickname. Before that it had played as Orjen, from 1914, which makes it one of the oldest clubs in Montenegro.

The single title sits a long way back: champions of Montenegro in 1937, when the region played its football inside the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. Everything since has been won at a lower altitude — the Third League's southern region three times in the 2010s, the South Region Cup seven times across four decades.

The nearest thing to a modern breakthrough came in 2021–22. Arsenal finished second in the Second League, beat Podgorica in the play-off, and went up to the First League. A year later they reached the Montenegrin Cup final and lost it, as they had in 1971.

They call it the coastal derby, or simply the neighbours' derby.
