The Brest Arena seats just over 4,000. Brest Bretagne Handball plays there.

The name on the badge came later than the club itself. What is now Brest Bretagne Handball began life as HBF Arvor 29, formed in 2004 out of a merger between Brest Penn-ar-Bed and Lesneven-Le Folgoët. The current name arrived only in 2014.

The Rebels, as they are known, built a case for themselves domestically before Europe took notice: three Coupe de France titles, in 2016, 2018 and 2021, plus a Coupe de la Ligue win in 2012. The 2021 season was the high point, a Champions League final against Vipers Kristiansand that Brest lost.

None of that history carries the edge of the games against Metz Handball, a rivalry sharp enough in France to be called a fratricidal duel, or the Derby de l'Ouest against Neptunes de Nantes, which draws on older, more local loyalties. Colours of black, white and a shade of pink specific to the club mark it out on those nights.

Cléopâtre Darleux is the name supporters reach for first. A goalkeeper who came through as the club built its reputation, she has been as close to a symbol of Brest's rise as any single player, the one fixture through the seasons that turned a merged, provincial side into a European finalist.
