Bulls

South Florida was already ranked No. 2 in the country in 2007. The Bulls started out in 1997, entered the top division of college football, and were competing with schools that had been playing the sport since before the First World War.

A win in the Papajohns.com Bowl in 2006 and another in the Meineke Car Care Bowl in 2010 were followed by the American Athletic Conference's East Division title in 2016, paired with back-to-back wins in the Birmingham Bowl that year and the next. The habit resurfaced recently and held for three straight postseasons — the Outback Bowl in 2021, the Gasparilla Bowl in 2022, and the Boca Raton Bowl in 2023.

They play in green and gold. Home games are played at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, a 69,218-seat ground that dwarfs the program's age — the Bulls have only been filling it since the late 1990s, and on the days they do, it is Tampa's college football crowd rather than the city's professional one that fills the seats.
