CSM Timișoara

Alexandru Șimicu started playing handball here at the age of twelve, before moving on to HSV Hamburg. Roland Gunnesch, world champion in 1970 and 1974, is another; Alexandru Buligan kept goal for the club long enough to win 280 caps for Romania and bronze at the 1984 Olympics.

The section grew out of Sport Club Municipal Politehnica Timișoara, formed in 1947, and has carried the "Alb-violeții" tag ever since. Its league titles, in 1956 and 1991, sit thirty-five years apart. The Cupa României came twice as well, in 1986 and then not again until 2019.

Matches against CSM Oradea carry the weight of a derby now, though the older grudges, against Dinamo București and Steaua București, belong to a different era of Romanian handball. Pero Milošević returned to the bench in February 2024 and stayed through a season that ended with an 11th-place finish, low enough that the club had to go through the promotion-relegation playoffs to keep its place in the Liga Națională. George Buricea took over in June 2025.

Alexandru Dedu, once the club's manager, went on to become President of the Romanian Handball Federation. Home games are played in front of 1,400 seats at the Constantin Jude Sports Hall.
