«El Gallito»
Morón gave its name to a club that Carlos Ismael Pagano set out to build into something lasting when he founded Club Sportivo Morón on 20 June 1947. Pagano stayed with it, in one capacity or another, for more than fifty years. Five years later the club renamed itself Deportivo Morón to join the Argentine Football Association and take its place in the Tercera de Ascenso, the division now known as Primera C.
The badge carries a rooster, and from it the nickname El Gallito followed. In 1968 Morón won the Torneo Reclasificación and with it a single season in the Primera División, in 1969, finishing 19th of 20 and going straight back down.
The club has produced players who left for bigger things. Hugo Campagnaro made his debut at eighteen and spent six years in Morón's colours before a career that took him to Napoli, Inter and Sampdoria and a place in Argentina's 2014 World Cup squad. Diego Perotti went on to Sevilla and Roma.
