Green Mamba

Green Mamba go into the current campaign as the team the rest of the Swazi Premier League measures itself against, holding the title won in 2022–23 alongside memories of two earlier championships, from 2010–11 and 2018–19. Malkerns knows the club by a different name altogether: Mabonahlonishwe, "Those Who Are Feared."

The Fair Trade Stadium holds 5,000. Domestic cups have followed the league form rather than led it: the Swazi Bank Cup twice, in 2004 and 2012, the Ingwenyama Cup twice more, in 2019/20 and 2023/24, both finals settled against Mbabane Highlanders and Mbabane Swallows respectively, and a single Castle Premier Challenge in 2014.

None of that explains the derby that actually raises pulses in Malkerns. That belongs to Young Buffaloes, the Eswatini Prison Service side, and the meetings between the two are known as the Forces Derby even though Green Mamba carries no institutional tie of its own. The rivalry sharpened when both clubs strung together league titles through the late 2010s and into the 2020s.

Sabelo Ndzinisa arrived in 2023 from Mbabane Swallows carrying the kind of number that follows a player around: 17 goals in 77 caps, the most by any forward for the Eswatini national team. Green Mamba supporters watch to see how many more of those he adds in green and white.
