Helsinki Seagulls

Helsinki carries only one Korisliiga club. The Seagulls closed that gap in 2022–23, beating Kauhajoki Karhu Basket 4–2 in the final and ending a 25-year wait for a Helsinki-based title. They came back to retain it in 2024–25, sandwiching a runner-up finish in between.

The club started life in the second tier, Division I A, and went up after a 25-2 season in 2013–14, stepping into the top flight the following year.

René Rougeau, the American point guard who captains the side, ran both title campaigns from the point, in 2023 and again in 2025. Vesa Vertio coached him through that run, taking over in 2019-2020 before handing over to Timo Saukkola in July 2025. Among the Finnish contingent, Lassi Nikkarinen came up through the club's own system, out of the Torpan Pojat juniors.

Home games are played in front of 1,600 at the Töölö Sports Hall.

Being the only Korisliiga side in the capital leaves the Seagulls without a natural neighbourhood enemy, so the fixture that gets under the skin is a long-distance one: Lapuan Kobrat.
