On 2 September 2017, a club walked out for its debut in the ORLEN Superliga against Vive Kielce. Promotion had come only months earlier, after MKS Kalisz won the I Liga Group B title.

The club started out in 2007 as KPR Szczypiorno Kalisz, taking its name from the Szczypiorno district where it trained, and did not become simply MKS Kalisz until a 2015 split from the wider multi-sport organisation it had been attached to. Sponsorship has reshaped the name further since — Energa attached itself in 2017, and Netland took over in September 2025, so the side currently plays as NETLAND MKS Kalisz.

Since reaching the top flight, the club has settled into the role of a solid mid-table side, finishing sixth in the Superliga four times, most recently in 2023/2024. Its deepest run in the Polish Cup ended in the 2018/2019 semi-final, where Vive Kielce again proved the obstacle.
