Ostrow Wielkopolski

Kim Rasmussen took over Ostrovia for the 2025/26 season with the club already on the European stage, a first for a side from Ostrów Wielkopolski that spent most of its history nowhere near it: a year earlier the team had worked its way through the group phase of the EHF European League.

The section goes back to 1930. What plays now under the name KPR Ostrovia Ostrów Wielkopolski, at times carrying a sponsor's name in front of it, was refounded in November 1996 as its own entity, separate from the football club that shares the Ostrovia name in the same town.

Promotion has come in fits and starts rather than as a steady climb. The club won the I Liga in the 2007/08 season, dropped back down at some point after, and needed until 2021/22 to win the second tier again and return to the Orlen Superliga, the top flight, where it has stayed since. Along the way, mix-ups in outside records have occasionally credited Ostrovia with a Polish Cup, a trophy that actually belongs to the city's basketball club, BM Stal, and with a SuperCup that could not exist before the competition itself was created in 2024.

The Pasiaki, as the supporters call them after the club's white-and-red stripes, play in front of 2,600 at Arena Ostrów.

A Superliga title has never gone to Ostrów Wielkopolski, and the Polish Cup the databases keep handing the club still belongs to someone else.
