Football, field hockey, volleyball — Keçiören Bağlum had been running all three for decades under the Keçiören Municipality before basketball turned into the branch worth watching. The section itself is young next to the club's 1963 founding, and it has moved fast: from the regional Erkekler Bölgesel Basketbol Ligi (EBBL) into the Türkiye Basketbol 2. Ligi (TB2L), then on to the Türkiye Basketbol Ligi (TBL).

The 2024-2025 EBBL campaign ended with Bağlum reaching the Final Group and finishing second behind Kütahya Belediyespor, who took the promotion spot. Anıl Atamış and Necmettin Haydar Ercan were named to that Final Group's Golden Five. A year later the pattern repeated at a higher level: in the TB2L Play-Off Final, Bağlum lost 88-85 to Sakarya Büyükşehir Belediyesi Basketbol, who went up to the TBL while Bağlum stayed second again.

For the step up to the TBL, the roster brought in experience alongside its own academy product: Hazer Avcı, a veteran of TED Ankara Kolejliler, joined a squad that also carries Mert Konuk, a Turkey Under-18 international. Two runner-up finishes in successive seasons, in two different leagues, say more about the trajectory than any single number does — this is a team that keeps reaching finals it has not yet won.

Home games in the TB2L were played at the Taha Akgül Spor Salonu in Keçiören's Esertepe neighbourhood, a 2,700-seat hall, in front of a crowd drawn from the same municipality that has backed the club's other sports for years.
