Khimki-2 remains one of the more consistent sides in the VTB Youth United League, and 2021–2022 brought another bronze medal.

The side exists as a pipeline rather than a destination in its own right: it plays out of the Sports School of Olympic Reserve No. 3 in Khimki and is run today by the regional Center for Sports Preparation in Team Sports No. 5. Sergey Klyuev, Daniil Kasatkin, Andrey Desyatnikov, Denis Levshin and Evgeny Valiev all passed through on their way to the senior BC Khimki roster or elsewhere in the VTB United League.

Those medals have come often enough to matter. Khimki-2 topped the Youth United League in 2013–2014 and again in 2018–2019, took silver in 2016–2017, and added bronze in 2011–2012, 2012–2013, 2014–2015, 2015–2016 and 2017–2018 on top of the 2021–2022 finish. CSKA-Junior and Zenit-M supply the sharpest competition in that bracket.

Home matches are played at the Basketball Center Khimki, shared with the first team, in front of a ground that holds 3,500.
