On 4 June 2026, SU Bad Leonfelden lifted the OÖ Landescup for the first time, beating SPG Friedburg/Pöndorf 5:0 in the final.

The trophy followed the club's first-ever promotion to Regionalliga Nord, Austria's third tier. Daniel Mair had guided the team there by winning the OÖ-Liga, the fourth tier, in 2025, before moving on to join the coaching staff at Borussia Mönchengladbach in Germany.

That promotion capped a rise that had started a decade earlier, when Bad Leonfelden were still playing in the 2. Klasse Nordmitte, the seventh and lowest tier of Austrian football, and won that division in the 2014/15 season.

Benjamin Freudenthaler, who had previously played for LASK, SC Austria Lustenau and SV Grödig and represented Austria at youth level, spent four seasons at Bad Leonfelden between 2020 and 2024. He made 95 appearances, scored 11 goals, and retired from the game after leaving the club.

The football side traces back to 1964, set up within Sportunion Bad Leonfelden, a multi-sport organisation in Upper Austria founded in 1947. Its name, Vortuna, comes from the health resort that sponsors the team, a link also carried by the ground, the Vortuna Arena, which holds 2,000 spectators. The team plays in black and blue.
