Lillestrom

Handball in Lillestrøm goes back to a club called Snilen, formed in 1966 and renamed Lillestrøm Håndballklubb soon after; it played in green and white, spent the years from 1975 to 1984 in the second tier, and produced one national-team player, Arild Jøndal, before folding in 1986. The current club is a separate creation, set up in the autumn of 1990 as Lillestrøm Håndballklubb '90, and it took the old name back outright only in 2015.

The turning point came in 2024, when LHK absorbed Lillestrøm Topphåndball, a performance-focused club that had run since 2006. The takeover put a men's side into the 1. divisjon, the second tier of Norwegian handball, for the 2024/2025 season. Stian Nøstdal took charge as head coach for that promotion push. The club has also built a working relationship with Rælingen Håndballklubb on player development.

Matches are played at Skedsmohallen. What the club has never had, across either version of it, is a major trophy: no NM Cup, no league title.
