Musongati FC reached the 2015–16 Ligue B title on the back of a single promotion push, and the top flight has kept them ever since: two runner-up finishes, in 2018–19 and 2019–20, before the club settled the matter with silverware. In 2020 they beat Rukinzo FC 5–4 on penalties after a 1–1 draw to lift the Coupe du Président de la République, then added the Burundian Super Cup in the same year — the two trophies still stand as the high point of the club's history.

Gitega gave the club its ground, its colours — green and yellow, read locally as the vegetation of Burundi — and its closest rival. Flambeau du Centre share the city, and their meetings are billed by the Burundi Football Federation as the Derby de Gitega; the 2022 Coupe du Président quarter-final between them carried that name officially, and on those days the city itself is said to stop.

The continental record is thin: a 2020–21 Confederation Cup preliminary-round exit to Zambia's Green Eagles, drawn 2–2 at home and beaten 1–2 away. Domestically the club has stayed competitive without repeating 2020 — second in Ligue A again in 2025–26, behind Aigle Noir CS, and runners-up in the Cup the year before that.

Stade Ingoma's own numbers have moved with the times: quoted at 20,000 in older listings, closer to 7,000 elsewhere, and settled by most specialist databases at 10,000, a figure that matches a 2022 local report describing a ground still short of the seating needed to call itself complete.

Of those who have wintered through it, goalkeeper Daniel Hakizimana is the one to watch: his first call-up to the senior national team came in March 2026.
