For 96 years the club had never finished a season in the top three of anything national. That changed in May 2025, when Novi Pazar took bronze in the Serbian SuperLiga — the first medal in the club's history.

The town sits in western Serbia, and the club that grew out of it in 1928. Its earlier honours belong to a different country: in 1983/84 the side won the Serbian Republic League, then the third tier of Yugoslav football, and the Yugoslav amateur championship in the same season. The Serbian Cup has never come to Novi Pazar.

The ground is the Gradski, rebuilt between 2011 and 2014 and now holding 10,000. It carries a sponsor's name, Caizcoin Arena, though the older one has proved harder to displace in the stands.

The blue and white the team plays in gave it the name everyone uses: Plavi, the Blues, occasionally stretched to "the blue typhoon" on days when the ground is full and the visitors are pinned back.
