Phú Dong

Từ Sơn Stadium in Bac Ninh holds just 5,000, a small ground that has followed a club still only a decade old and short on the kind of history that fills bigger stands. Phú Dong turn out there in black and red.

The club was formed in 2015 and moved through the lower tiers quickly: the Third Division in 2016, then the National Second Division in 2018 and again in 2020. The clearest result came in 2025, when Phú Dong won V.League 2 without losing a match and secured promotion to the top flight.

The nickname, the Hoa Lư Ancient Capital Football Team, borrows from Hoa Lư, the seat of Vietnam's earliest imperial court — a claim to history the club itself has had to build in a single decade rather than inherit.

Bắc Ninh FC, formed in 2023 and settled at the larger Việt Yên Stadium, is the nearest thing Phú Dong has to a neighbour worth measuring itself against: two clubs only a few years apart in age, one playing before 7,500 seats, the other before 5,000.
