Real Potosí

Real Potosí sits in the Primera División again after climbing back from the regional leagues.

That trophy closed a stretch that had threatened to end the club altogether. Relegation in 2021 was followed by bankruptcy the next year, with debts of roughly $450,000 forcing a merger with Felipe Hartmann just to keep a team on the pitch in Potosí's regional competitions.

The club traces to 1 April 1988, when the Spaniard Samuel Blanco set up a football academy under the Real Potosí name; it later absorbed Banco Minero de Bolivia, a bank-sponsored side dating to 1941. Blanco stayed close to the project until 2010, when he left for health reasons — by then the club had already taken its Segunda División title in 1997 and was building toward its best years, the Apertura championship of 2007 and back-to-back Play-Off Tournament wins in 2008 and 2009.

Home matches are played at the Estadio Víctor Agustín Ugarte, which holds around 32,000 and stands 4,090 metres above sea level.

The nickname Lilas comes from the club's purple colours.
