Ruch Kalisz Women

The women's side that now plays there under the Ruch Kalisz name did not exist a decade ago in any recognisable form: it started life in 2021 as SWWS Energa Szczypiorno Kalisz.

Kaliszanki won Group B of the I Liga in the 2022/2023 season, then had to go through Płock to make it count, beating Młyny Stoisław Koszalin in the Turniej Mistrzyń on penalties, 6:5 after a 24:24 draw. That result took the club into the Superliga for the first time, and the following season it stayed there, finishing tenth on debut against clubs with far longer histories in the top flight.

Arena Kalisz holds 3,164, red and white are the club colours, and the nickname Kaliszanki has stuck in local coverage the way such names do once a team starts winning something worth naming. There is no Superliga title to point to yet, no cup run of note — the promotion through Płock remains the high point of a short story.

Łukasz Kobusiński has coached the side through that rise, from the second tier into the top one. Among the players who came up with the club or joined for the Superliga step, Diğdem Hoşgör carries the most established name, a Turkish international brought in to help a newly promoted side hold its own against opponents who had been there for years.
