Slaný

The regional title of 1968/69 came at the top of the fourth tier — the Central Bohemian regional championship. It took nearly four decades before the next trophy arrived, and that one came from far lower down: first place in Group A of the Central Bohemian I. B class, the seventh tier, in 2006/07.

What kept top-level football in the town for a while was somebody else's club. The army side founded in 1953 as PDA Slaný, renamed Dukla Slaný five years later, spent 1965/66 in the second division. When it was wound up, SK Slaný took in what was left of it in 1992. Several of the players the town still names passed through that military side — among them František Plass, capped 11 times by Czechoslovakia and later a Viktoria Plzeň man.

The sports circle behind all of it goes back to a first recorded match in 1905 and an informal group meeting in January 1906. It became S. K. Slaný in 1907 and has carried the name since.

Blue and white, Slaňáci to those who follow them, the club came up through third place in the Central Bohemian regional championship in 2018/19. Divize B has held them since. In 2023/24 they reached the second round of the MOL Cup.

The derby is with Kladno. Za nádražím holds 3,500.
