Torrent

When a group of neighbours in the town decided they wanted a club of their own, they registered it in July 1922 as Torrente Foot-ball Club, with Enrique Mondragón Pons as its first president, and had it formally recognised by the Civil Government the following March. The name did not stay fixed: it became Torrente Club de Fútbol in 1940, was shortened to Torrent Club de Fútbol in 1984, and spent the years from 1998 to 2006 operating as Torrent Escola Fútbol Base before the football side was restored under its own name again.

For most of that history the sharpest rivalries were not with neighbouring towns such as Silla or Sagunto but with clubs from Torrent itself — Antoniano, Athletic Club Torrente and Sporting Club Torrente all drew from the same streets, and derbies were played within the town rather than beyond it.

The club plays in orange and black at the Estadio Municipal San Gregorio, a ground that has been through renovation work to meet Spanish federation seating requirements. Its one major title came in the 1989–90 season, when it won the Tercera División.

Torrent's academy has sent more players to the top flight than the club itself has reached: Paco Alcácer moved through Monte Sión de Torrente and the Torrent youth ranks before Valencia, Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund and the Spanish national team, and goalkeeper Vicente Guaita followed a similar path through Valencia and Getafe to Crystal Palace and the national side. Waldo Machado took the route the other way, arriving at Torrent after his career at Valencia had already been made.

In 2023, Torrent won a promotion play-off against CD Azuaga to reach Segunda División RFEF, the club's highest level in the modern league structure.
