Eastlink Centre
Charlottetown, Canada
Formerly: Charlottetown Civic Centre
The Eastlink Centre stands on Kensington Road in Charlottetown. Built between 1989 and 1990 to replace the old Charlottetown Forum, it was constructed specifically for the 1991 Canada Winter Games.
Originally seating around 3,200, a renovation in 2003 extended the stands closer to the ice and added luxury boxes, pushing the hockey capacity to 3,717. The arena floor is natural ice, though the hardwood surface remains available for basketball.
The Charlottetown Islanders of the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) have been the primary occupants since moving to the city in 2003, having previously operated as the P.E.I. Rocket. They follow a lineage that includes the Charlottetown Abbies and the American Hockey League’s P.E.I. Senators. The venue has also hosted concerts that drew national attention, such as Bryan Adams’ 2000 performance, which was noted as the largest indoor concert in PEI history at the time.
