Estadio Jesús Bermúdez

Named for Jesús Bermúdez Torres, the goalkeeper who took Bolivia into the 1930 World Cup finals in Montevideo, the first of his countrymen to play in one. It opened on 7 July 1955 as the Estadio Departamental Oruro, before the city renamed it in his honour.

At 3,700 metres above sea level, the altitude has long done as much work as the pitch itself, and visiting sides from the lowlands have arrived here short of breath before a ball is kicked. San José play their home fixtures on the natural grass, and the surface has been relaid more than once to keep it playable at that height.

No club has the ground to itself in the way some Bolivian cities allow; Oruro's football has, at points, spilled over onto artificial pitches elsewhere in the city, including the Regimiento Camacho and the Facultad de Ingeniería grounds, while the Bermúdez underwent work. The stadium carries no sponsor's name and no official site of its own, its records kept instead by the departmental government and by the club it houses.
