Nissan Stadium

Nissan Stadium The original name, International Stadium Yokohama, was replaced on March 1, 2005, when the naming rights were transferred to Nissan Motor Co. The previous owner had moved its headquarters to the Minato Mirai district, and the deal was signed to plug an annual maintenance deficit of 400–500 million yen.

Since the 2002 FIFA World Cup Final, the venue has been known as the "Stage of a Dream," a title earned when the crowd released 2.7 million paper cranes. That same match, Brazil against Germany, set the attendance record of 69,029 spectators. The stadium also hosted the Rugby World Cup final in 2019, after the originally selected National Stadium in Tokyo was not ready in time. During that tournament, England and New Zealand played a semi-final here on October 26.

The playing surface is a hybrid grass, consisting of approximately 97% natural grass and 3% synthetic fibres, which was notably refreshed in 2018 in preparation for the 2019 Rugby World Cup.

But the venue is not solely a football arena. It has hosted major concerts, including performances by B'z and X Japan. In the 2023-24 season, the Yokohama Canon Eagles drew over 30,000 fans for their first home game, an unprecedented number for a rugby match in the league.
