Seven's Europe Series - Poland (EU) 2022/23

The Rugby Europe Sevens Championship Series stands as the premier men’s and women’s rugby sevens competition on the continent. Organised by Rugby Europe, the tournament sits directly below the World Rugby Sevens Series in the global hierarchy. The format relies on a series of multiple legs hosted across different European nations, typically featuring two or three events per season. Teams accumulate points based on their final standing in each leg, with the winner receiving 20 points and the runner-up 18. The squad with the highest cumulative total at the conclusion of the series is declared the champion.

Each individual tournament spans two to three days, utilising a pool phase followed by knockout brackets for the Cup and Challenge Trophy. The structure includes promotion and relegation between the Championship Series and the lower-tier Trophy Series. The bottom-ranked team in the Championship is relegated, while the top two teams from the Trophy Series move up. France holds the record for the most successful nation, claiming the men’s title in recent years including 2024 and 2025. The most recent confirmed completed season saw France take the men’s crown and Great Britain secure the women’s title.

Poland hosted a leg of the series in Łódź in 2018, an event won by Ireland, which secured the nation’s first overall series title. That remains the last time Poland hosted a Championship leg. The competition is distinct from the European Rugby Champions Cup and Challenge Cup, which are club competitions; this is a national team competition.
