SGI claimed a 2-0 victory over Odense in the Round of 128 of the Danish Cup on Wednesday, 6 August. The away side opened the scoring inside the first quarter of an hour and saw out the contest without trouble.
G. Langelund found the net in the fifth minute to give his side an early advantage. It was a strike that set the tone for the evening, and Odense never quite recovered their composure after that opening blow.
The second goal arrived much later, in the 88th minute, courtesy of A. Lauridsen. By then the result was never really in doubt, but it served as a reminder that SGI never got out of second gear even when the outcome was clear.
Odense had drawn their most recent outing 0-0 with VfL Oldenburg, but that form offered little protection here. They gave the full-back a torrid evening and could not find a response after going behind so early.
The defeat means Odense's cup campaign comes to an end at this stage. SGI advances to the next round, extending their progress while Odense must now focus on league duties.
